I love writing software that turns raw, complex, undocumented data into something you can compute on.

For 18 years that meant satellites and radar. In C, I wrote a generic bit-level frame synchronizer and telemetry parser that I used routinely to dig into undocumented formats, debug ingestion problems and work around them while the operational software caught up — on Landsat, MODIS, NOAA, GOES, ERS and ALOS PALSAR — plus the CCSDS packet-telemetry library that ran in SAC-D's ground segment. I built a SAR processor from raw satellite bytes with no documentation of the downlink format or the sensor internals — a coupled inverse problem where a coherent image was the only correctness signal.

I owned the processing-software specification for Argentina's SAC-D sensors, and, as sole author, the MWR sensor's complete data specification and the algorithm basis document for its geometric processor.

Today I work on production distributed systems in Go at Ava Labs, where I was the main developer and owner of Avalanche CLI, the Tooling SDK and Network Runner, and the top contributor to the public avalanche-cli repository. Much of my recent work is measuring the performance of blockchain database systems: an experiment harness that turns cross-node comparison into a paired experiment enforced by design rather than by operator discipline, the reconstruction of trustworthy latency percentiles from lossy summaries, among other things.
